LAB TESTING

Lab testing is available for Virginia nutritionists -- for in-state labs and for reciprocal out-of-state labs.

Tests for Medicare and Medicaid patients require a physician’s authorization.  All labs used are CLIA

certified (Clinical Laboratory Improvement Act, 1988, administered by Medicare).

STANDARD TESTING

Standard tests, such as chemistry, CBC, lipids, etc, are done at Lab Corp or Quest Diagnostics.  These labs

bill your insurance directly.

NUTRITIONAL LAB KITS

Nutritional tests are performed at specialty labs.  All labs are CLIA certified.  Special lab kits are provided in

federally approved shipping containers.  Tests available include: micronutrients (vitamins, minerals), food

allergies (immediate and delayed), food morphins, heavy metals and trace minerals, stool tests,

neurotransmitters (amino acids), and comprehensive cardio-metabolic panels (lipids, lipoproteins,

inflammation markers, glucose, Hemoglobin A1c, and Ω3 / Ω6 fatty acids), and other tests.  Some tests

can be done at home (hair, saliva, urine, stool).  Other tests require blood draws by a phlebotomist.  Kits

are shipped to laboratories in pre-paid postal-approved packages.  Most tests are covered by PPO and POS

insurance plans, Medicare and Tricare.

CERTIFIED PHLEBOTOMY CENTER

Adjacent to our Clinic in Suite 103 is Mobile Phlebotomy Services, which draws blood for lab kits and Lab

Corp, and can come to your home if needed.  A small fee is charged for each kit or lab.

OTHER BLOOD DRAWING SERVICES

Certified phlebotomy services are also available from Lab Corp, Quest Diagnostics, INOVA Central Lab,

hospitals, and doctor's offices.   Most charge a fee (about $35 - $50).

BILLING FOR TESTS

In most cases laboratories bill patients or their insurance companies directly for lab testing, less a co-pay.
